Our Story

The roots of Myrick Produce trace back to 1976, when Edward Myrick returned from active duty military service as a First Lieutenant with the Second Armored Division. He began working for his father at Ralph Myrick Truck Brokers, where he gained valuable experience delivering and picking up produce across regional markets.

This hands-on knowledge inspired Edward to establish his own company in 1974, Edward L. Myrick Produce Inc., beginning operations by buying and selling fresh vegetables at major markets in Faison, North Carolina, Pompano Beach, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina, and later expanding into Exmore, Virginia, Vineland, New Jersey, and Laurel, Delaware.

In 1994, the company broadened its reach into farming through a partnership with Minor Brothers in Leslie, Georgia. Just five years later, in 1999, Edward L. Myrick Produce expanded internationally by importing cucumbers and hard squash from Honduras, strengthening its year-round supply capabilities.

Edward’s son, Jimmy Myrick, joined the company full time in 1998 after graduating from Wake Forest University. Bringing fresh energy and a vision for growth, Jimmy played a key role in expanding operations and became Vice President in 2010.

The company’s growth continued in the decades that followed. In 2021, Myrick Produce acquired Voyager Farms in Parrish, FL, further strengthening its Florida presence. In 2022, the company extended operations into Michigan, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality produce from field to market.

In recognition of Edward Myrick’s decades of leadership in the produce industry, Florida Senator Chris Smith renamed the Pompano State Farmers Market the Edward L. Myrick State Farmers Market in 2015 - a lasting tribute to his legacy.
